First (small) win

I had my first win, kinda small but I'm still happy. I entered a contest through Scholastic to win a Maya y Miguel dvd. I got an email saying I won! :headbang: Course, they sent me an affy, it cost me $5.00 to get it notarized and the dvd was only worth $9.99! I figure I'm still up $4.99 though so I'm happy. Still waiting for my big win though so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed but thought I would share my little win those that would appreciate it!

Congrats. You should probably check around and see if there is any free notarys.

You might check with your bank. A lot of them have free notary services for their members.

Congrats on your win anyway! :headbang:

:sunny: Congratulations! yes, please check with your bank or insurance company that you do business with. You may be getting lots of affys and don't want to dole out $5 each time.

Yeah - I've used the County Clerk in my County Court House to notarize documents for free as well.

But congrats on the win. I feel the same way - I'll take a win - big or small! : )

Thanks for the great ideas for other places to get stuff notarized. I knew I could count on you guys to have lots of great ideas to not pay $5.00 every time I win. Hopefully, this will be a problem ( lots of wins and lots of affys ) that I'll be able to fix easily. I will check with my bank and see what they say. I know my bank still counts and wraps change for you if you bring it in and they do that for free so maybe they would offer this service too. I wonder if I became a notary, if I could notarize my own stuff? Would that be a conflict of interest  Anyway, thanks for the all the congrats and here's wishing lots of big wins for all of us in the future (I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of us :sunny:)

you cannot notarize your own stuff...and often times neither can an immediate family member although they likely would only be able to tell if you had the same lastname

 Congratulations on your first win!! :sunny:

Most banks have a notary and it is a free service even if you don't belong to that bank.
Check around next time, so you don't have to pay!
