FaceBook Temp Lockout

:cussing: I don't have a personal FaceBook so I created one just for sweeps with my real name and all real info. Yesterday, I spent all day entering contests on Facebook and today I log in to see they have a temp lock on my account for 30 days. I was still able to log in, so I am not sure what the lock out does ??

Anyone had this experience ? Does it effect my sweeps entries ??

 I hope all that work yesterday wasn't thrown down the drain !!

Kicked off FB?

I've been kicked off FB a few times - it's a nightmare trying to get any help/answers!
Anyway, I just don't bother with it when it happens - I clear temp files/cookies then reboot and try to log in to FB again.
Sometimes it takes a few days, then it self corrects. :crazytongue:

If that doesn't work? You'll need a cell phone to get back on:

Twice in the past week I have had to get a code via cell phone to get back in. What I would like to know is what if you don't have a cell phone ... are you out forever? I know a few people on FB that don't have cell phones.

You have to send a copy of your ID if you can't get the text code. This has happened to a ton of sweepers in the past week (found a thread in Google search.) No amount of deleting cookies/logins/temp files, etc. will help you if you are locked out of Facebook like this. It's either text code, send in ID or nothing. If you make another account, I would assume it would be locked as well since you are only supposed to have one.

Thanks ya'll. It lets me in, but doesn't let me "like" any more pages...hopefully it doesn't effect any of my potential wins.

Oh, then you need:

Have too many LIKES?

I was entering some of the crazy blog contests that require you to like upteen hundred pages for entries and after a while I would click the like button, it would show that I liked it, then a few seconds later, change back. After doing some searching on the internet, it appears that you can only have a combined total of 5000 friends and page likes. I tested it by unlike-ing a page, and was able to like another page. So, it now appears that I am going to have to do a major clean-up on fb and unlike a bunch of pages. Does anyone how a quick way to do this? It will take forever to do it one by one.

Now I feel the need to rant: I really hate facebook, but it seems all companies are starting to use them for sweeps. It used to be only smaller contests, but now a lot of the contests with huge prizes are using fb for their contest platform. It isn't that I mind entering through fb so much as it gives them way to much power. A while back they decided that for some reason my account was not legit (I have seen this happen to many sweepers) and locked me out of my account for several days. There were a lot of contests that I could not enter because of this. At anytime, for no reason, they can disable anyone's account and basically void all your entries in many sweeps. And now because all of these sites that require you to like them to enter, and fb's like limit, I am going to have to spend hours maintaining my account. I really wish fb would go away like myspace and the others did in the past, but it would be replaced by the latest, greatest, annoying social media.

Amy, there's a far easier way to UNLIKE a Facebook Page:

Bring up the FB page you want to unlike, scroll down and look for the following options on the left:

Create a Page
Get Updates via SMS
Get Updates via RSS
Unlike
Report Page
Share

Click 'Unlike' and you're done!

Btw, some current Bud Light promotions have the same problem as Trop's did that you mentioned, so this is a much more convenient way to deal with it :)

I had this happen and during the 30 days I was still allowed to play all the sweeps that I already had likes on. After the 30 days, I was allowed to like again and have not had a problem since (keeping fingers crossed). Ever since, I am careful to only enter contests I REALLY want to win, and watch how many likes I click in a single day. I did send FB an email regarding this whole thing and how I didn't believe I was breaking any rules, but I never heard back. From what I heard in the news, FB has been cracking down on "fake likes." I guess companies were experiencing boosted numbers from fake accounts. I was not aware "likes" were that wonderful that people might pay for them, or fake them, but I guess they are. There are still some sweeps on FB you can enter without liking (usually those that have the shamrock on them). Good luck!

Thanks Marley, glad to hear I am not the only one. Yesterday I did enter well over 300 contests (and over 300 likes) !! A bit overboard, I guess is why Facebook was flagged.

I was going to email them , but I am sure it would be a needle in a haystack....
