Extremely Low Response Time

Lately when I click onto a sweepstakes (or anything) , it takes an extremely long time to come up. The blue circle @ the top where it lists the page I'm trying to get into goes round and round forever, and on the green rectangular bottom bar , it also takes it's sweet time. I'm wasting so much time, I could've been on three more sweepstakes sites by the time this one comes up. Someone tells me it's because I have too many e-mails that I haven't closed up. I DO have a lot. Is that true? Anybody know why? Please respond. (I'l be sittin' here waitin'.) Thanks, John.

I don't know, but one thing that helps me is to clear my cache. Have you tried that yet?

John, you may also find help by reading the two stickied threads above, "IW/FLASH Sweeps not working? Try this" and "Need Computer help? Links, advice, etc..."

Here's one post, for example:

troubleshooting tips:

Clear all temp files & cookies

Reboot & retry

Try a different Browser - IE, FF, and for the real PITAS, Google Chrome

Try a different computer

If none of these work? It's possible you have a conflict with a program - did you recently add or update?

I'm very low tech, so I was just suggesting something that has helped me when my computer was slow. Hopefully, other people will respond to your question with more helpful information.

If you want to try clearing your cache, cookies etc., you can start by looking on your toolbar for "Tools." For me, under Tools, I select "Clear Recent History." That gives me a pop-up box. In that box, I check Browsing and Download History, Cookies and Cache. Then I hit the button that says, "Clear Now."

(After I clear these things, I re-start my computer and then I have to re-enter my password for SA, and re-enter some of the other things my computer remembered for me, like my email address, but to me, it is worth it.)

Hope this helps...or at least make sense. :)

For Microsoft Internet Explorer: At the top of your browser, click on Tools. Then click on Internet options. Next, click on delete. Put a check mark in the box for those items you wants to delete ( I check 'em all 'cept for Preserve Favorites Website Data ). Click on delete. Wait till it's done deleting, then close.

There are similar procedures for other browsers.

I have been having the exact same issues. It started after entering several Womens Day contests and pop ups that followed me entering them. Hmmmm, the Norton better be catching these things.

So, oddly enough,,,,,,,,,,,,,it just stopped being slow to open pages etc. I did nothing,,,,,,,,,,,I have no idea what was going on but it stopped. Wonder if that is bad or good

I had the same issue of pages taking a long time to load. Anti-virus software have what is called system tune-ups. ( It's under tools on my anti-virus software). I performed this procedure which in my case took several hours, as my computer was really junked up with pieces of computer bits. After this was completed, I was back to fast operating speed. Now I have my system set up to perform this function automatically once a month so it won't take so long to clean it up.
