Entering New Sweeps after the first 48 hours

I've have been reading over the old posts, trying to learn more ins & outs of sweeping, and came across this belief or fact more than once: that when entering a New, One Time Only Sweeps, don't enter in the first 48 hours of the sweeps being offered. Does anyone know the reason behind this?

That's just an unfounded belief. Entries can be randomly picked at any point of entry (any numbered entry). There's no proof that more entries are picked at any given point after a sweepstakes begins. I enter all sweepstakes the day after they are posted and have won and continue to win from one-time-entry sweepstakes over and over again. :)

Everything Lida said, plus there are state and national laws governing sweeps- the sponsors aren't allowed to make up their own arbitrary rules like "only people that enter after the first 48 hours will win".

lol - sounds like something I'd of said, but if I had, I would have added:

So if there are any kinks {ie the form doesn't work right/magazine sweeps that doesn't give a no subscription form/etc.} I won't waste my time on it.

Otherwise, it doesn't matter as LDS notes :sunny:

There is one type of sweep that I do not enter when it is first posted. Example: the Shell Car and Driver instant win (I think that's the name of it). It's an instant that you can only enter once. My thinking is that there will probably be a lot more people who enter when the contest is first posted rather than near the end of it. They are giving away a $50 shell card an hour. I figure my chances are better later on when most sweepers have already entered. Just my opinion tho...

Actually, most people who don't enter on a daily basis, do them all at the end of the month. I have no clue as to the reason for this practice, but I've seen enough people post through the years that that's how they enter!

I think people that enter them all at the end of the month, or close to the expiration date, do it just because they're all together in an "expiring soon" category, and finding them all together is easier than looking for them day to day. Or, that's why I would do it if I did it.

I only use Roboform, so mine are all saved and filed in that. When I'm done entering for the day, I put in that day's date which pulls up all the ones expiring for the day, and I just delete them. So, my list is always up-to-date and current. I still don't get the practice of entering at the end of the month since there are those you enter daily, weekly, monthly, etc.

I agree, lots of people enter close or on the expiration date especially for one entry. But I think alot of us enter the instant win on a daily basis. The Shell one is listed under instant win but it's a one entry. I figure that type are entered as soon as they are listed and then not saved by the sweepers. I actually won it a few weeks ago.

It's all dependent on when the winning random times are.
