Does anyone really win 1 out of 10 contests?

I know some people win more than others, but I do not believe it would be possible to win 1 out of 10 contests you enter. Found this article, and this woman estimates she wins 10% of the time and enters 1 to 2 hours a day. That would add up to hundreds of prizes a month! I know that this was probably just added to up the article some, but it is setting unrealistic expectations.

She's full of it, or her definition of 'win' includes coupons and low-value prizes, or she enters contests for prizes no one really wants. But let her say whatever she wants, as long as she's not trying to sell a book to others claiming that. I'm not denying she may have won great prizes, but an authentic 10% win rate? No way. :scratch:
 
I'm going to guess she threw a number out and didn't fully understand what that number means.

If she's only entering 200 a day, that's 20 prizes a day, I've heard of some really winning days around here, but I don't know of anyone sporting a single 20-prize day, let alone sustaining that regularly. I'm sure it's possible (anything's possible), but the statistical probability of any one person sustaining that sort of a win level is atronomically small.

Right, define "win" first. And what constitutes those entries - are only IW and DP sweeps counted? :scratch:

That said? I've had runs where I won 3 or 4 times in one day, from 150+ entries. of which approx 50 were IW's. Ah, the good old days, lol :crazytongue:
 
I do not want to judge her and her prizes, but 10% is a huge ratio.

Again it is also about what is she counting as a win. But buy here definition I should be in the article :crazytongue:

I count anything that I entered and received a prize for FREE. So if it is a free candy coupon I will count it. If it is Disney tickets I count.

I do not count coupons like BOGO. But I will count a win if I buy a product then win. i.e. Movie tickets from a frozen pizza purchase.

Now I am not good at math - but 131 days so far this year x 200 contests daily = 26,200 entries ( 103 wins so far ) = .0039312977%

I'd say that I probably win about 1 out of every 100 sweep I enter, but I enter alot more than just the 200 per day (more like 500 or so). The trick, I think, is to be consistant. At least once a week I win something. I don't count coupons for percentages off either; only the 100% free items. My list also doesn't include song or wall paper downloads. If I counted everything then it would probably be close to 10%.
 
Well, there are a few ppl on SA that I see winnning all of the time. Personally, I have been doing this off and on for many years and have not won much... a few tiny things here and there but nothing of any grandeur. If this lady really has this kind of luck I wish it would rub off on me...lol. GL everyone! :laughing:

Off and on works for a tiny few - mostly those that post a lot of wins are sweeping every moment of every day that they can.

That's not to mean that if you hard charge that you WILL win, just that it's much more likely that you will! :sunny:
 
I'm trying to learn all the ins and outs of this sweeping and guess I have no say into whether or not she won.
What would be her chances (does using a particular browser help? / her location / what she is entering)
 
Off the cuff.....No. Maybe once she won 1 out of 10 or maybe did it twice in a month or something....I don't believe it is possible as a regularly repeating percentage. :wave:

I had about a 4 week run where I was winning 3 to 4 IW's, sometimes all of them in one day. If you were to snapshot it, it would look like a high percentage, but yeah, including ALL sweeps entered vs wins over time would very low!!!

TIMING. Nothing else really matters unless it improves that.

Since it is impossible to know when, I just enter & forget it - keeps me sane, lol!!! :crazytongue:

Huh? LOL!LOL! :laughing: Speaka de english! LOL I know we all have quite a few wins in spurts, but not all the time, is my opinion! ;)
