Might be the only good thing happening today. I won a Fandango code followed by a tree falling on my house. Waiting for the insurance adjuster to condemn the house and tell me my disabled self and family have to leave. Not a good day.
Update 2/18/25 they are actually going to repair the damage. They are going to be here in the morning to rip out all the sheet rock and repair the trusses and then redo the sheet rock. Huge relief. My insurance more than covers everything I lost and have to replace and I don’t have to worry about finding somewhere else to live on short notice.

Wow, that sure was a clean break in your ceiling and no debris covering everything. Hopefully you will only be out for a short time while repairs are made rather than the whole house having to be torn down and replaced.

We had already cleared the insulation that was covering everything lol. Wife has the good pictures. We rent and in Alabama the landlord is not legally required to rehouse you. My only recourse with him is my deposit and 4 days prorated rent for the days that rent was paid for. My renters insurance cut me a $2500 check that I should have in a day or two. The landlord has nothing open to put us in at the moment. I paid $507 for a hotel for the wife, kid, and pets . I still have no word from the landlord since Sunday morning when it happened

So sorry about the tree and your house. Take good care and I hope everything works out.

I am so very sorry this happened. Best of luck in quickly finding acceptable accommodations for your family

It's never pleasant when something like that happens. Fortunately, your insurance will make it less stressful. May things continue to look bright for you and may many wonderful things come your way!

Oh my, this is terrible! It would have been better for you if you had been the homeowner. I'm even sadder now that you are dealing with this. $2500 doesn't buy much these days, and since you may have to move out your belongings (I assume) that's an expense right there that can eat up all that money.

So sorry to hear that about a fellow sweeper! I hope you have a great community and family support system to make your lives better! Being a renter myself, this could happen to any one of us!
