Companies promoting sweepstakes exclude people/e-mail?

Do sweepstakes promoting companies keep a list of people/e-mail address's they will not allow to enter a sweepstake, if they detect something is afoul with entry? Do they communicate with other promoting companies and pass along the list? (if one exists)

Anything is possible.

There are some folks who belong on such a list. Like those who enter Tobacco sweeps and then brag in the comment section that they haven't smoked in years. Or those who enter "for" another person. Please show me a set of rules that state you can enter "for" someone else. They all say one entry per person, or some derivation of that statement. Once you've entered, you're done. You've had your one entry. If your (- - - - - ) wants to enter, that's fine, but you can't do it for them, they must enter for themself.

zoom38 - The ability of JA's/Sponsors to share info is there, but unless they tell us plainly, all we can do is be responsible sweepers, follow the rules, and assume the rules that bind us, bind them as well.

I was DQ'ed from a Coke Sweepstakes promo years ago because I didn't double check the rules and assumed the listing of 1xpp/day [different sweeps site] was correct. My DH also won & that triggered a DQ for us both.

That experience is why I became a rules maven :p

Anyway, the DQ [AFAIK] did not affect me with other JA's/Sponsors, since I've won plenty & [fairly] often since then, and most importantly, it only seemed to affect that individual promo, because I won from COKE on later promos.

curmudgeon makes [as usual] a valid point - no JA/Sponsor wants a negative outcome from a promotion, so they will police their promos according to the rules they/we sweepers must [by law] abide by.

I will quibble on the "enter for another" issue. Of course, parents can enter for their eligible children, and there was an HGTV home winner who when asked, stated his wife entered for him, and he was not DQ'ed.

Having said that? Each JA/Sponsor will decide that issue, so the best course is to enter for yourself, check to make sure it allows 1xpp [for one time/daily/weekly/etc] not 1xphh, then let them know they can enter.

I know when we sweepers either *never* win, or go from winning often, to a severe drought, we want to find out why.

Thoughts of more sweepers/competition, being DQ'ed for running afoul of a rule we were unaware of, or "because they don't like my name/email address/etc" enter our heads as possible explanations, but I learned in troubleshooting equipment in the USN that the simplest fix is usually the correct one, so I change what I *can* control.

This thread may help with that:

NOT WINNING ANYTHING? Tips on WHY:

If you enter at the same time every day and haven't won in a long time, change up when you enter - or even in what order you enter.
Keep in mind that while winning is the goal, interacting with other sweepers in the forums and comments is a side benefit that will make you feel like a winner!!!

Dry spells CAN be broken, so don't give up!!! However - if you are starting to feel burned out, take a break - sweeping should be fun, not a chore!!!

I save winning pages to paint, so when I'm blue, I can revisit past wins and reaffirm that I AM a winner - you'd be suprised how such a simple thing can really lift your spirits!!!

Ways I deal with the frustration of a dry spell:
1} I get outside of my own head by helping others. Either by voting, answering questions, or just getting a little silly. :crazytongue:
2} I avoid the winners circle. It's not that I'm not happy for other members, it's just that I don't need the constant reminder that I'm not one of them - for now. :crazytongue:
3} I hard charge on sweeps, going through all the categories and getting a sense of satisfaction/accomplishment when I get all caught up.
4} I take a break from the computer, since it's gone from being fun to being a chore.
If you keep pushing yourself to enter and things don't change, you will most likely burn out and quit, whereas if you make a decision to take a break for a day or 2, you are still in control.
I *usually* find I return after my mini "vacation" that I'm refreshed and can see things more clearly, so the little things don't get to me, and I enjoy instead of dreading entering my sweeps. :sunny:
