Hi, I am new to sweepstakes and have been a bit overwhelmed with reading the "fine print," but came across something today that made me pause and would appreciate some feedback. I entered a contest today that said by entering I agreed to receive all newsletters affiliated with that contest and that if I unsubscribed to any I would be disqualified from winning...They did not offer a listing of what those particular newsletters would be however. I would like to know how often contests require that we do not unsubscribe (this is my first time coming across this), and if anyone has tips on how long to wait before unsubscribing to things that may or may not impact their wins...Thanks!

I don't think it's that wide spread where they require you to be subscribed. We have noticed it being written into some rules lately though. Good luck and hope you win.

I second what sweepsadv says...its not the norm that a sweepstakes will require you to stay subscribed to their newsletter to win, but a few do.

For me, I just start unsubbing when my daily mail gets too high...some sweepers don't really unsub because they like being the first to get notified of sweeping. I've been entering on and off for a few years and I don't really worry about being dq'ed for unsubbing b/c its more of an occasional things you see in the rules.

Good luck and enjoy sweeping!

breadandjam - I see you found this thread:

Thread: Unsubscribing after entering a sweeps
https://www.sweepsadvantage.com/for...0349-unsubscribing-after-entering-sweeps.html

bmettlerwins - it depends on the sweeps/sponsor - some will require subscribing & you will have to stay subscribed long after the sweeps ended when the winner drawn

Some sponsors [usually small businesses] will not allow you to *ever* re-subscribe if you unsubscribe

Rule of thumb: be choosy & and pay attention to which require subscribing

What I always subscribe to; Tobacco {Camel/Marlboro} & big sites like COKE for special codes/links

Some sweeps have an ending date an a later date by which the prize(s) will be awarded. Choose the later date and start unsubscribing then.
