Okay ~ I'm scared ~ lol!

We are getting ready to start on our kitchen two weeks from now and I am getting ready to pull down the old wallpaper ~ any advice?

The only way I have ever done this is by using a water bottle wetting the paper and pulling it off, any advice?

Thanks LDS...very useful information!

When we took off the wallpaper in our home, we went to home depot and rented a steamer... that was fast, quick & very easy.... the paper slid right off.... be careful to lay down newspaper because the glue is sticky from the steam.. protect your carpet....

In all honesty I have tried each one of the methods already mentioned. In my honest and humble opinion - I can say with all the love in my heart - HIRE IT OUT. Pay whatever they ask. Give them your first born child. I have all of the wallpaper gone in my house exept for one room and I'm pretty sure I'll need counseling before I attempt to take that room out! Never again will I hang wallpaper. And you know, it looked so pretty at the time

Oh, I will NEVER EVER hang it...just hanging the border at chair rail height in Ashelyn's room was enough to teach me that lesson. My ex-husband's Dad was the best at hanging wallpaper that I have ever seen, he would go in and hang it in just a few hours and it would be perfect...I am still in awe of that man!!

I won't hang it, but I can take it down. My sister had hers hung and it only cost her $200.00 which I didn't think was that bad honestly. It looks wonderful and she watched tv while the woman hung it ~ the best of both worlds ~ lol!

Do what I do...

hire someone

Actually, we will not talk about the fact that my BIL put up wallpaper on the walls in his home that were never painted.

Nope. won't mention that at all.

Seriously, rent a steamer. They work pretty well from what I hear.

Did you have to bring this subject up? I have two more rooms of painted over, unprimed, wallpaper that is glued to plaster walls. If the area is really dry, it comes right off, but there are parts that really make me want to cry. A few hour job is endless and painful.

Thanks for making me cry, Tammy!
