curmudgeon posted this tip:
"The winning time is by the minute. I've entered and lost @ 3:46, 3:47, 3:48 and then won @ 3:49PM. If you've a watch with a second hand, go to google and type in time of day. You'll find - "The official US time (NIST & USNO)". Set your watch so that the time (including the second hand) agrees exactly with the official US time (for your time zone). Don't enter 5 times as fast as you can - wait a minute or five or ten - then enter again when the second hand reaches 12 so that your entry is the first for that minute."

partygrandma58 - I don't know how I manage to win nearly every time. My "normal" time for entering is between 12:30 and 3:00 AM CST. I don't "burn" through my 5 chances. I do one and if it's not a winner, I move on to the next sweeps leaving from 5 - 30 minutes between entries. I usually hit it on the 3rd or 4th entry. Like Amy said, it's all in the timing, and I feel there's less "competition" in the wee hours. I can't say it works all the time, because I'm not getting any other wins to speak of.
