I said I would report back what happened with the Austin Energy sweeps and as it turned out it was a scam. I did not get scammed because I did not give them any money however I took the check to the bank and answered a phone call that made me really angry with a man named Michael asking me if I had cashed the check yet. I told him no the bank was checking to see if it was legit and that if it was legit I would keep it myself instead of paying him a fee for taxes and processing. The check was 2,850.00 with him saying if I sent it Id receive 800,000.00. This is a sweeps I remember entering although I am not sure exactly where I entered it at. They can do that. Put up a fake sweepstakes websites and take it down after a couple days when they have enough people to try to scams info. I thought this was fishy all along but my sister said take it to the bank or you will always wonder. I will be honest it really aggravated me . Even though I sent no money I wasted time on the correspondence and taking it to the bank. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I slacked off contesting for the last week because it bummed me out. Im back now and today I won a dinosaur shaped cakepan from HSN so I am back at it.
