So I am still on my winning high from my first grand prize win, and while no one will take that from me, I am starting to get annoyed from people (friends and fam) saying "Its probably a scam" or "be careful, I'm sure it's not real!" I am better off not telling anyone in person, and just writing here! You guys are great. Stepping down now:)

Yep. I think it's because they see the history of PCH scams/lawsuites/controversy, and/or see popups that promise the moon and only deliver spam/steal their identity/crash their computer so they think it's ALL a scam. :nono:

Then you have those that enter a handful of sweeps, maybe for a week, then because *they* don't win, it *must* be a scam. :nono:

You'll learn who you can talk about your hobby with and who you can't over time - your own personal do & don't list

The more you win tangible prizes, that you can point to {ie TV/XBOX/etc} and say "I won that from {sponsor} last month" the more people you can add to your do list :crazytongue:

when i first started sweeping i got the same lecture but after time i was winning and talking to people about my hobby.I really hate it when people say you are so lucky and i am not.I put alot of time and work into it.you get only what you put into it.I found out some people are jealous and i solved that problem by giving them a win or two.now those people are behind me 100%.

 Oh yes, the doubting Thomases. When I first started out years ago, I would get the scam talk. Until they came to my house and I start showing them all the loot I that I have won. Now the first words is usually, "What have you won lately?" Then I usually throw some prizes their way.

Let me share my experience with you...I once won a grand prize and it was delivered in the form of a check(from a well-known bank). I live in a small town so needless to say when I took the check to the bank to deposit it they immediately thought it was a scam. It was my first win ever so I was a little skeptical also but I knew that I had entered this contest and I had already filled out affadavits and spoke to the company several times. The manager at the bank started telling me all about these scams. She was completely convinced it wasn't legit. She told me she would have to check to make sure it was real. After two weeks passed and the check still hadn't been deposited I called the bank manager and she said that she talked to someone from that bank and they had no info regarding that check. She said it was a complete fraud. So I called the company I won it from and had to have them to call my bank and verify that it WAS real. She called shortly after and told me it had been verified and deposited. It was very frustrating to go through this. As far as the comments go, there is only a handful of people that know I sweep and sometimes I think that may be a few too many......

That is terrible!! And I thought just having my neighbors and family doubt me sucked! I am glad you got it cashed in the end!!

My family loves my wins because I share my wins with them, however, they still won't sign up and play themselves. They tell me they don't want spam, and after 10 years of trying to convince them I don't get spam, I just keep quiet about most of my wins now.

Ah, the old "They tell me they don't want spam" excuse - they just don't want to do the work, YOU get to, Little Red Hen :crazytongue:

sweeping is real, and so is winning, as long as there are non believers out there we have better chances of winning, and when I run into a skeptic I just invite them in to view my 60" flat panel or let them use one of my 3 pcs or listen to my entertainment center or play my ps3 or I might even let them look at my 2012 Jeep in the driveway, not to mention all the other items and cash and gift card wins I have had.
