And the scams come rolling in...

In the past two or three days my email has been plagued with Nigerian scams, ATM card scams, so and so is dying and you are their heir scams, and a new one today allegedly from the FBI! It says I was involved in an illegal Nigerian transaction (which I wasn't) and that they took an ATM card, blah blah blah, which in turn they would send me 8 million dollars, etc, you know the drill. Wow. If it were from the FBI, they wouldn't be emailing me, they would be knocking on my door!
Anyway, remember sweeping and winning is fun, but don't let your guard down for nothing! There's lots of scammers out there, so keep track of the contests you are entering!

Oh and there is an identity theft scam out there that I just came across too. I got an email from Bank of America, the logo is even on the email, and it states that there have been illegal attempts at accessing my account and to verify the account to click on a link. I don't have an acount with them, and if you get an email from a bank you are not a customer with, DELETE IT! If you get an alert from your bank, still don't respond to the email and call your bank to verify the message.

Good luck and have a great day!

yup! receive them too. the Bank of America one, if it was really from the Bank of America, it would have your name written in it, it would be addressing you. Also, same thing from the Ebay scams, any email from ebay will have your name in it, and also, you could just log into your ebay account and if it was really a message from ebay, the message would be in your messages folder.

These aren't sweepstakes-related. They buy or hack into email address lists to get them. Non-sweepstakers get them too. The best one I got yet is someone wanted $3,000 not to kill me for someone who I knew!

The only sweeps related scams I do get are when I signed up to vote for someone and now I can't get rid of the "Participation required for your $500 Gift card" emails. I don't open them and just delete. What a waste of internet space.

I get the others every few days but, delete them. Sad that people fall for these things.

Thanks for the tips.

Another one to watch out for is the "Friend or Family member or classmate has sent you an ecard." Usually if you get an ecard it tells you the persons name, not some generic friend, ect.

Also my mother got a 4000.00 check in the mail. She was smart enough to take it to her bank and ask if it was legit before she cashed it (it wasnt), so
watch out for those to. They seem to send them to people over 60.
