And Right After I Win the Blu-ray Player ...

I have never tried netflix.. Is it expensive? Do you recommend it?. I usually just go to redbox but the selection is really limited.

We love Netflix. We have been members for many years, and I could not recommend it higher. They have an amazing selection of movies and TV shows - only once or twice, early on, did I want to see something and they didn't have it (foreign films mostly) and, at least in those days, you could suggest it and they would try to get a copy. I'm not sure if they still do that, but I have not run across a movie they didn't have in the past 2 years.

One of my favorite features is being able to add movies to the queue. Say you see an ad for "Appaloosa" and you think that you'd like to see it, but don't have the time (or money) to go to the theatre - just add it to your queue, even while it is still in the theatre, and you don't have to remember months from now if that was a movie you wanted to see!

Sometimes, just sometimes, people live in a locale where the DVDs arrive slowly, but you would find that out during your trial period and can quit at any time.

If I mail a movie back on Monday, I will have a new movie in my mailbox on Wednesday - perhaps once or twice a year it will take 1 extra mailing day. With tax we pay $9.69 a month for one at a time unlimited (soon to be $1 more for blu-ray access). If we are really on top of watching as soon as they arrive, that is easily 8 movies per month (we are slow at watching so actually get about 4).

Plus that comes with unlimited online movie viewing, although the selection of online options is still pretty limited. They say "thousands of choices" for online instant viewing but, honestly, I could probably find 25 things or less I would want to watch at any given time. I also am not fond of watching on my computer, but they do have several options that allow TV viewing instead (Roku Netflix player -$99 - is out now and there is a blu-ray player coming out that will work and xbox with an xbox live membership works).

For $10 or so a month, Netflix provides a lot of entertainment for our household.

I'm so behind on some things. I've yet to ever watch a blu-ray

Our son has a PS3 (graduation present), so when he was home this summer we watched a couple of blu-ray movies on that. Although most of my friends are nuts about HD viewing, I don't really see a huge difference - a little but not that much. We have an antenna in our attic, so we get HD over the air, but most of the time I'll watch shows on regular cable because, honestly, I don't need to see everyone's pores! :crazytongue: I certainly wouldn't own a blu-ray player if I hadn't won it, at least not until the price came way way down. When I told our friend Robert that I had won the blu-ray player, he got this weird look. My husband leaned over and whispered "he is thinking 'that is sooo wasted on them.' " It's true, we have never gotten into the whole HD home theatre craze! We did, however, purchase an HD LCD TV for our family room when out last TV broke, so we were prepared to use the player at least.

thanks for the info.. I will check it out. I dont really want another monthly bill though

I actually just joined netflix through mypoints and I am very happy with them so far. I only got the one movie plan and I pay $9 a month but I send the movie back right away so I get at least 3 movies a month. I have been able to get three just released movies so far.

I also do the redbox when I can get a new release.
