Allstate

So the good hands people ok then why is it I can't get the claims adjuster to get this claim finished after a month or so since the hurricane.

I can't get the roofer to come back even after he said we needed emergency roof repair.

So I wait for those good hands people to open up those hands.

Dang, sorry to hear about all the problems.
Just try being late for one of their monthly payments.

:headbang: I am just so frustrated that we pay for insurance all these years and never file a claim. Hurricane shows up and deductablee increases 2% some people's go up 5% It's not my fault we had a hurricane.

Oh well everyone is having a hard time right now with this issue and at least we didn't have major damage.

Thank God, for that.
Best Wishes.

We had the opposite experience with Allstate. About a week after Allstate assessed the damage sustained by one of the storms, our truck was repaired.

I think they are just overwhelmed with all the storms we have had this year. Now with the auto part of Allstate things are great. Homeowners is a different story.

As soon as we get our house done with the remodeling we are switching from Allstate. They have been really good on the auto claims (Jimmie's car got pounded by hail a couple of years ago) but they really lack on the homeowners side of things! Plus they are so much more expensive than some of the others. Jimmie's brother has 3x's the home insurance and pays less than half what we do a year with Farm Bureau.

I just don't want anyone in this house until it is straightened up!

I would love to switch but I am not sure if any other companies will take on new customers. I just will be glad when this is settled. We are supposed to get a new roof ceiling walls and some new fencing. Also tree removal and replacement.

We had to put a new ceiling in our bedroom thanks to Ike, and here we are in Kentucky. We had noticed that the ceiling was looking weird in there, but we kept on going up on the roof to look for shingles that had been blown off and there wasn't any. Well the first time that we got any amount of rain(we hadn't gotten but just a little bit here since Ike came through) our bedroom ceiling caved in.

Thank goodness we had all of our furniture out ~ we were just getting ready to start the redoing the floors. Jimmie met a roofer up at our hardware store and he came out and found the bad shingle down for us (wouldn't charge us anything for it...) and then we spent the next few days fixing the ceiling. We didn't even turn it in on insurance. Jimmie did call and they said that they got bombarded with calls after the rains came through because people were just finding out where there leaks were. We opened a claim and then called back and cancelled it when we found out we could fix it pretty easy and not have to wait for a claims adjuster to come out.

We have a $500.00 deductible so we fixed for just a little more than that. We also didn't want to have wait for them to get here to fix it ~ Jimmie only had a few days off. Needless to say, we still don't have the floors done, or our bedroom furniture in the bedroom. Jimmie is sleeping in Ashelyn's bed. Ashelyn is on the couch and I am on the recliner... it is just peachy here!

Tam I wish we could fix it but we have a two story house and we do need a whole new roof. I hate having to file a claim but I have to because there's just too much damage. Our deductible is $1000 normally but with it being a hurricane it's doubled.

Sad thing is all of our insurance rates will increase even if you didn't file a claim.

Glad you guys could fix the roof. You should post pictures of the house when it's finished.

Oh trust me, I understand. We just got lucky that ours was that easy. It is amazing to have that much hurricane damage in Kentucky anyway! We have been declared a disaster area due to Ike...like I said KENTUCKY...

Of course, we still are trying to get over Feb's tornado also so our county has gotten hit hard in the last year. It is amazing to see some of the new houses go up. Glad to see that people are rebuilding their lives a little at a time.

The guy that fixed our roof is getting a gift card from Cracker Barrel...I can't stand not to give him something. He spent his time and gas coming out here! Just a good guy, and one that we are keeping in mind for future projects (still thinking about adding onto the house)!

If I can figure out how to load my pictures online I will post some. I have been wanting to show everyone my cats and Buster anyway!

I thought that was wild also to have that kind of damage in Kentucky. It's been a crazy weather year. It's really great when you find people out there like that guy who did that work and yes I'm sure you guys will be a great reference for him.

Allstate has been near the top of any lists I have seen of worst insurance companies to work with. Seems like a great advertising campaign with lousy service.

"Topping the list as the single worst insurer is Allstate. This company once enjoyed a great reputation for customer service, but Consumer Reports also concurs in a separate tally that now they're way toward the bottom of the heap. In a J.D. Power survey, Allstate also gets the lowest score of any home insurer." Clip from Clark Howard.

The American Association for Justice also lists them as the worst insurance company in America.

I made it a point to avoid any of the companies on these lists when I went insurance shopping. I have not had any personal bad experiences with Allstate, but have had experiences with other insurance companies that make me consider some of them lower then the scum of the earth (Travelers).

On the other end of that spectrum, I have nothing but positive things to say about USAA. Their customer service is outstanding and I would never consider switching insurers. If anyone is considering changing insurers and is able to pick up USAA coverage, this is the way to go.

gosweepin,

The site where I found the above information lists USAA as one of the best. I wish I was eligible to join. I have insurance though Farm Bureau and haven't seen anything but good things written about them.

We have to deal with the complexity of Farm Owners Insurance. Luckily our experience has been very good. Its just really expensive. But when you consider all it has to cover (like if somebody drowns in the pond, or shoots their foot instead of a duck...) its not that bad.

I'm not sure if we could switch at this point but I will look into it. We have auto and homeowners with Allstate and have been with them for 13 years now. We signed up with them when our home was built. They did give us a new roof so now I am waiting to see how high our rates go.

I use State Farm for my insurance needs. My auto insurance, especially, is awesome. I got the best rate when I first applied (due to my clean driving record)...and have gotten a yearly premium decrease ever since. :sunny:
