Finally! Been posting on the "whiner's wall" for the last year that I haven't won anything for ages. It was more than a year!
Went away to a friend's wedding last weekend (which I couldn't afford but I just had to be there; tried to win a trip there but didn't
). Got home to find out I had won not one, but TWO gift baskets! The parochial school affiliated with my church has a basket raffle every year as a fundraiser. Usually about a dozen baskets are raffled off. Tickets were 6/$5 and I bought 12 tickets. Put names of family members of 6 or 7 of them 'cuz my father once won that way. Entered the other 5 or 6 tickets in my name. Not bad results, given the odds!
First basket was the "Chocolate Sweepstakes & Giveaways basket" - half a dozen super-size chocolate bars, brownie and pudding mixes, a bag of hershey sweepstakes's Bliss and a bag of Ghiradelli's candies, and a couple of other small things. Okay, so I'm diabetic and don't even remember entering for that particular basket, but I'm happy. Will give some of the candy to the church youth group I work with and some to my nephew. (I'll keep the "healthy" extra-dark chocs for me.) The best part is it came with a fondue pot, which I've been wanting for ages.
Second basket was the "Italian basket" - nice, since I'm half Italian. Several packages of pasta (about 6 pounds!), breadsticks, herbed olive oil, balsamic vinegar, fancy oil bottle and pasta bowl, Nonni's brand biscotti (my faves!), and two cookbooks.
Sorry for the long post, but it's been so long without a win that I'm super excited! This certainly will help with the grocery bills.
