I just recieved my first email notification of a win! So exciting! I won a $50 Shell gift card from RPRA keeps on giving sweepstakes. The contrest is a tiered sweepstakes so there are still lots of prizes to be won if you are interested. Here is the SA write up. Also, this may be a silly question but this is my first affey...is it normal for them to ask for your social security number?

The grand prize is a trip for four people to a SeaWorld destination, including flight, 3 nights’ accommodations, park tickets, and spending money (the “Grand Prize”). They don't have to ask for your SSN and report the win to the IRS unless the prize is worth $600 or more, but some of them do, even for really small prizes. It's up to the sponsor.
 
Congrats on your win! Thanks for the info on that sweep.

Surprised they sent an affy for a $50 win. IRS instructions for 1099-MISC say not to file a 1099-MISC with them unless it is $600 or more (I work for CPA's, so I know). They are actually wrong to have done it, but what can you do.
