The good & sad about the "new" updates of SA

I must admit I just love the way SA's come along over the years & has spent much time with the updates on making this a more attractive website. But I also see much of a pitfall in many areas compared to in the past. As far as new sweeps go, month by month or so it seems has less & less "new sweeps". And the reason why I joined SA over "other" sweepstake sites, was the quality of sweeps vs. phony scheme sweeps. Now look @ SA, its full of them. Also alot of the "new sweeps" are far from being new, their just a bunch of repeats. This site used to have class over other sites, now I'm starting to really wonder!? Why the nicer looking website with a downgrade of daily sweeps? sad.

Sponsors offer sweeps in lieu of regular advertising, and it waxes and wanes throughout the year.

SA can only list what is offered, and if those sponsors don't offer...

Add in that most sponsors have jumped on the Facebook bandwagon, if you eschew FB sweeps, it leaves pretty slim pickings! :p

Amy,

You are so right about jumping on the FB bandwagon. The fact that you have to "Like" the company or product means nothing in reality. People may or may not "LIKE" them but really it is just to try to win something.

But I was talking about the listings in general when 3-400 were listed daily, now SA's lucky enough if they put up 100-150 per day & alot of these are re-posts. They are not actually new sweeps.

Ah, I see what you mean now.

I let Ken know, but I think it's the dearth of new promos to list that is the problem here - after the crash in '08, I'm surprised sponsors run ANY promos!!!

Yeah, FB requires the like to even access the form/rules on any given page, which totally skews the results & makes FB look like it's all that when it's really not!

If I were a sponsor, I'd jump all over FB for that requirement!

It's just the time of year. There are fewer new promotions being launched before the end of the year. We'll be back up to our 200+ daily numbers after the first. This has happened every year at this time.

I have to comment on this and concur that the time of year is always seen a drop in new sweeps, at least in the years I have been here, things should pick up steam by march

Yup!

Sweeps always taper off at month end and at year end.

Can't list what doesn't exist.

Amy, I agree that Facebook sweeps where you can't read the rules till you "like" (endorse) the sponsor are a pain, and shouldn't be allowed. It's great for the sponsor as they get your endorsement & can post Ads on your home page even if you don't enter the sweep. Perhaps, if we all complained to the FTC - - https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ - - they’d contact Facebook with a cease and desist order.

Till I take the time to “unlike” ‘em, they get free advertising on my home page.

Help!!!!!!

I just started entering facebook contests and my facebook account has been "limited" by facebook. they tell me that some of my accounts features have been disabled for 30 days. this includes the like button which is required for any contest on facebook. they tell me i possibly violated the terms of service in relation to spam and phishing? they also tell me if I keep "violating tos" I will be banned from facebook for life. I do not have any "friends" on this account. I use it exclusively for entering contests. I use my real name, etc.. I have given them my real phone number(when they required/demanded) when they locked my account last time and thought I was a "bot". I am at my wits end with this. Does this happen to anyone else? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Brandon Cerny

I had this happen to me...just send FB an email saying you use your FB to enter contests. They will lift the ban. I had to send 3 emails but the ban on my likes got lifted.

djarun,
I got an email from a blog that I read and it seems this letter went out to quite a few people that constantly "like" websites. To enter a blog sweepstakes, they normally ask you to "like" their pages and their sponsors pages as part of the sweepstakes. The more followers they have, the more and bigger the sweeps that their sponsors will offer their readers. They are now having to stop this process as well which will more than likely make them lose some sponsors and/or move all their blogging to twitter and pinterest. I think it is just Facebook's way of wanting us to pay for the service of promoting our pages which we currently do not have to do.

This is just in my opinion :)

djarun - I stickied an FB thread with tips - this one may help you:

Kicked off FB?

I've been kicked off FB a few times - it's a nightmare trying to get any help/answers!
Anyway, I just don't bother with it when it happens - I clear temp files/cookies then reboot and try to log in to FB again.
Sometimes it takes a few days, then it self corrects. :crazytongue:

If that doesn't work? You'll need a cell phone to get back on:
