cheating on txt Coke

I posted this comment in the Post Comment area on txt Coke Sweepstakes but so incensed I'm posting here also.

I read that people are cheating and that one person boasted of already winning $200 on www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=213157.

I think it's rotten and wouldn't blame companies for stopping sweeps because of jerks like that.

How do they even do it? Do they win, see the time, then play exactly every 5 minutes? They also must have a ton of secret identities to keep playing.

After 3 years of sweeping I am still so naive that people know how to beat the system and cheat many honest players out of having a chance to win themselves. I hope those cheats get 4 flat tires on their way to spend that money.

Sorry - but just had to vent.

I read through that thread, and I'm at a loss here. I only see a $20.00 win, and I don't anything that appears to be cheating.

Prizes aren't given out every five minutes. They are five-minute intervals spread out throughout the sweepstakes period with one winning time during that interval.

It looks like you can only enter twice by alternate entry, but for every code a person gets for entering by text messaging.

yes some people are cheating on that site. creating multiple accounts. saying they have 50 accounts. :nono: unfortunately there will always be cheaters. Its up to the sponsors to catch these people. They need to stop making it so easy to cheat.

I just read through the first page--didn't notice there was more. I wouldn't worry about multiple accounts. Let's see them come up with 50 different addresses. The sponsor almost always catches any cheating. There will always be cheaters. In the end, they're the ones that come up short. I wouldn't worry about it.

These people haven't gotten anything yet.

The one poster said that he/she did the same thing with the sprite sweep awhile back and they sent every win to the same address. As long as sponsors continue to allow these loopholes people will continue to cheat. The should make it 1 per IP or home address.. Some would still find a way to cheat but it would certainly cut down on it.

Bottom line.. there will always be people who cheat. Im not going to worry about it. I just play by the rules and hope that karma will bite these individuals in the butt.

...and who knows if these people aren't just bs'ing anyway. Some people do like to brag about things even if there really isn't anything to brag about.

Years ago, I kept entering one with a one-prize limit. I didn't realize it at the time though. I won twice, but they only sent one prize.

Thats true. Seems silly to lie about being a cheater though. But then again if they are a cheater they probably are a liar as well. kinda goes hand in hand.

I've done this in the past for various reasons, but when one sees people posting wrongdoings on some website, send the URL to the sponsor/company. This way they can see what they're up to.

Years ago, when coupon fraud started getting out of control on the internet (scanning and pasting coupons on websites), I would send the URL's of the posted coupons to the companies. These people were ruining it for the rest of us. That was also the reason why many stores stopped taking printed internet coupons.

The one woman posted that she had to remove the Sears $10.00 off of $10.00+ coupon from her website, because Sears contacted her and threatened her with legal action for copyright fraud!

That's also why companies started sending the freebie coupons by mail instead of email.

I just posted this under the comments of the instant win but Karma will get them. It still makes me angry and wanted to give people a heads up. I wish people would just play fair. :cussing:

Venice, the one thing I have learned is that worrying about someone else's cheating isn't worth the effort. Take the energy you are spending thinking about it and enter sweeps. There will always be cheaters. These people have no conscience. If you point out their cheating ways, they will defend themselves with all kinds of venom. They were never taught right from wrong so trust me, you will just become a victim of their attacks and you will become more upset.

As rrddpp says, Karma will get them. I witnessed Karma in action first hand this week, and I really believe they will get theirs! :headbang:

Keep doing what you are doing. Sweep according your what your values allow and be happy with that. That's all I can do too!

Why get angry over something you have no control over? Like the others said, there will always be people that will try to cheat the system. Whether it be somthing small like our silly little addiction of sweeping or somthing huge like the filing of taxes. I believe in karma. But I believe more in the good karma. If you continue to do the right things and "play by the rules" then you will be rewarded one way or the other.

I still haven't figured out how to do the alternate link. So I've been text messaging codes. Still didn't win though

tiff log in first, then click twist txt to get, click on official rules and then click the link in the rules for alternate entry. 5B..

I would just like to add that I dont think the site in OP is encouraging this behavior. If you read through the entire thread several members are agreeing that it isnt the right thing to do. I have been to that site before and dont think it should reflect poorly on them.

I referred to those members boasting not the site itself. I'm sure they understand that as a given.

What's really good is that someone posted screenshots of their winning codes. From that, Coca-Cola can tell whose account it is.

I wasnt referring to your post at all. I was simply stating that I didnt think the site was encouraging it and it should not be looked at like a cheat site. It would be like if a member here posted about cheating and some other site picked it up and was talking about a bunch of cheaters on SA.. that was my point. I dont think it should reflect poorly on the site.

I don't believe it does, but I think they should remove those kinds of posts which are admitting to and/or encouraging fraudulent activitiy.

I have a question for all you sweep experts out there. If me and my roommate have our own accounts should only one of us play? I know the rules state that one account per person but with these cheaters I don't know if we should both play since we have the same address and use the same comp. Maybe we should play alternate days?!
