Picky w/ Sweeping?

Are you The Selective sweeper like me?

Just curious how many out there are really picky about what you enter?

I have some free time now, ....so when looking back at my sweeping past (lol)
I am amazed that I have fallen into the mode of only just entering the straight form
sweepstakes. I count the number of sweeps I enter and it really hits home because
obviously it limits you the pickier you are.

Oh you know what I'm talking about- the 'enter your email once per day to login for
a chance to win.' I Love those and that's about all I do right now, but hoping to
change that.

Like, for instance, I used to enter the major magazine sweeps, but I haven't in along time. I really
dislike the sweepstakes that I have to wade thru and check the box and un check that box.
I know the worst that might happen is that I subscribe to something- still,
HAha..., that must explain how I got so picky about entering them. The video sweeps where
you must watch a long video and then enter (if the form works) sort of bug me too with
different entry points.

I've tried to be less picky lately, like I will enter a Facebook sweepstake or two.
I got an error message though one time so I gave that specific sweeps up too.

Well, but, I've been pretty content in the past with maybe the usual camel sweepstakes win or
coupons win per month or maybe an instant win. I've come to the conclusion that
anything but the trips is something to try to enter. (However, I just had to forfeit a trip
win- argh - I couldn't travel and got nothing :/ !)

So, I hope to stick with the entering a lot more sweepstakes than the
fast one click ones. Has anyone ever felt like
me ?
-Perhaps AND entered more different kinds of sweeps and it worked?Any tips to break
out of the sweeping 'comfort zone' (lol).... I'd like to know! I know just sit down and search for
the ones you'd like to win and enter obviously. So,
maybe that question doesn't make much sense. Believe me though, it has been pretty good to
enter a few more lately.

I guess I am choosy. I work and have kids, so I don't have unlimited time. This is a little hobby so I'm only going to do it if it's enjoyable. I do take breaks from it for days or weeks at a time.

I do it while listening to podcasts or browsing other sites so that it doesn't seem tedious.

The Selective Sweeper - yep. We all get here, sooner or later!

I posted this awhile back:

I think the usual sweeping learning curve goes something like this:

Oh boy, LOOK at all these!!! I MUST enter ALL of them and then I WILL win.

For some, it only takes a week for them to get frustrated and start asking "Why can't I win??? I see all these others doing it, what am I doing wrong???" while others plod along and don't reach that point for months.

Since 6 months is the norm, those posting they won after a few days/weeks are actually outliers, who are also more likely to post, but that doesn't change how others react.

The other part of the curve is in how many & how often you enter.

When you start out, ANY win sounds fun, and so we tend to go hog wild - yes, I did it too.

In time, we learn to prioritize, and that while entering lots of sweeps may increase your chances, it doesn't guarantee them.

Yup!

The older I get, the more "selective" I get.

Pretty soon, I won't have any sweeps left to enter, I'll have deselected them all for one reason or another.

lol!!! My son is an adult now, so that changed what I entered for, I forgot about that. Sometimes, I'll add IN some PITA's with small prizes to shake things up/change up my timing, but I have trouble sticking with them.

I am definitely very selective. First of all, I don't have instagram or twitter so any sweeps with those are out. (I don't care to set up those accounts). I only enter sweeps that I really want and can use or at least can sell. In addition, any travel sweeps with an ARV over $3000 or so I usually don't bother as paying the taxes on it isn't worth it to me. It's my estimation that I enter less than 1% of all available sweeps and spend on average 25 minutes daily to enter them. I could never envision taking 3-6 hours daily sweeping as many others do as I would be too bored and frustrated with that. For the 25 minutes I spend daily entering, I've done alright. I'd say I've averaged about $4k a year for the past 5+ years.

Well since posting this thread I've fallen back into the selective sweeper mode, I am like some of you all, I just can't make myself create accounts and watch videos to enter sweeps, just now I passed up a sweeps to win a car because I wouldn't create an account - hard to believe but true...and I know what you mean about 3-6 hours per day sweeping being frustrating. First, I 'try' to keep all my sweeps in an organized fashion. If I can't enter all the sweepstakes in one big whack then it gets quite hard to remember-for me anyway- If I have entered or not. Last night, I pretty much know I gave up a few entries from skipping around. That's one good tip, I know this to be true, if you are not organized then it has for me added on* alot * of time... Anyway, I'm just glad I can be on the computer so much with this hobby. Yay!
